Carpark Snooze.

Its been a long week. I have been trying to finish painting my panel for Oliver's exhibition....everyone else has done 3 or 4 and I am still going on one....mmmmm. I am enjoying it though and Fran has been very gracious with me traipsing through her house all the time. We discovered we were born on the very same day in the very same year....how cool is that ? On Saturday I had to babysit my gorgeous grandson and because I had been so busy during the week I decided to take him grocery shopping...OK...So off we went up to Karrinyup about 10ish and Lachlan went to sleep on the way. I managed to get a good parking spot. I did'nt take a pram because I was going to put him in the grocery trolley. So I was just sitting there wondering what to do...I spoke to him and he just rolled his eyes and went back to sleep. I did'nt want to leave and come back so I thought I would just sit in the car a while. I played Sudoku...which I had just downloaded on my phone, then I became weary, so I lay back my seat and closed my eyes for a while...I dozed a bit...on and off for about an hour....I got quite a few stares and one guy stood about looking around...I don't know what for?...maybe security?...well I was'nt living in the carpark....What was I supposed to do? Anyway Lachlan woke up and gave me a lovely cuddle...He obviously appreciated my gesture. So we did our shopping and went home...so there!

Blooming Artists.

Yesterday, I had the most fun I have had in ages. A group of us involved in Artists in Arms got together to paint some backing panels for Oliver's 365 Painting exhibit to be hosted at Soto's Cafe, Mt Lawley. We spent the whole day painting , talking and getting to know each other. It was great to see everyone in action and I was totally blown away by the diversity and talent evoked during the day and evening . It was particularly delightful to see some of the younger artists getting stuck in...great stuff! Fran did a spectacular turn at watering and feeding and nurturing us and It feels like we are at the beginning of a blossoming community....I can't wait to see what happens next.

Bubbleshare

I was watching Call for Help as usual and they had Albert Lai, one of the developers from a site called Bubbleshare, as a guest.Bubbleshare is really great. It is a photo sharing site and you can have your photo's private or public, you can add audio...which I think is fantastic... You can make photo story albums. Have a look.

Southern Sojourn.

Mick and Yvonne hosted their usual "Fish Day" party on Good Friday and a good time was had by all. Brian and I dragged ourselves out of bed early the next morning, picked up Yvonne and, made our way down to battle the hordes in Margaret River. Being very worn out and bleary eyed my plan was to sleep all of the 3 hour trip, but, the animated conversation that ensued soon woke me up. When we arrived we lunched in the main street, did the lotto, bought some provisions and then proceeded to do the usual M.R. stuff....talk to the neighbours, do some cleaning and sorting etc, visit rellies, visit friends, stock up on favourite "Racy Red" from Graylyn Estate Winery, drink, eat, reminisce, drink, eat, sleep, talk, sit on the the front verandah...as you do..go out for tea, more visiting, talk...talk... go out to Jock and Lynda's, catch up with Eeyore, pick some figs in PJ's, take some photo's...hopefully to use for some work, visit more rellies etc, etc. Then on Monday, on the way home, we stopped in at Bunbury to see Mum, my sister Barbara, and my brother-in-law Ray. We had lunch and a nice visit then we were pleasantly surprised to find that the traffic was'nt bumper to bumper all the way home....Perfect!

My Domain

I keep fiddling around with this blog and stuff and I'm not getting any painting done...discipline...discipline. Anyway I am excited 'cos I have registered my domain name. It is hartsdesire.com.au and I have had it webforwarded to my blog. So if anyone types in hartsdesire.com.au it will come up here. Harts Desire is my business name and a while ago I did have a website that a company built and hosted for me, but, after a few years I could'nt afford their fees so I had to cancel it and did'nt have the sense to keep my domain name, so I was pleased to see that it was still available. Anyhoooo.." its all good "....must paint...must paint...must paint...Oh..Yeh...I've had to redo my business card again....."#@*!\"

Meeting

On Saturday afternoon I went to another Artists in Arms meeting held at Fran and Oliver's place. Things seem to be coming along splendidly for our soon to be held exhibition. Fran and Oliver have done a brilliant job setting everything up and getting everyone together....methinks it should be a real "wingdinger"...cough, cough...excuse me ...I mean a "splendid soiree".

Straylian Slang

I was stumbling yesterday when I came across a website named koalanet.com.au. It is a website about Noosa Queensland and on this site there is a section on Australian slang. I thought I might throw in a few now and again ...just to refresh my memory .
Bodgy : of inferior quality .
Bog in : commence eating, to attack food with enthusiasm.
Brass razoo, he hasn't got a : he's very poor .
Bludger : lazy person, layabout, somebody who always relies on other people to do things or lend him things.
Budgie smugglers : men's bathing costume.
Bush telly : campfire .
Cactus : dead, not functioning ("this bloody washing machine is cactus").
Captain Cook : look (noun) ("let's have a Captain Cook").
Cark it : to die, cease functioning.

Please Explain ?

Can somebody please tell me why, why, why oh why do T.V. stations, after airing a new series of a particular show, let you view 4 or 5 episodes and then throw in a couple of repeats for good measure ??? God ! that is so annoying. I notice that leading up to Easter there is a lot of this happening. Do they think that we will just get way too excited, overload with chocolate and run screaming into the night? Hey! I only do that on a full moon and on Andy Warhol's birthday." Geez Louise " While I am at it. Why are all the good shows aired in the middle of the night ?..." Six Feet Under Shameless...and I know about advertising, but..but..but, there are 20,000,000 ads run during 1 episode of Lost. It almost makes you want to record it and fast forward through them. Although this is one show that is actually aired at a time when I am still awake....grumble...mumble

Life gets in the Way

Oh what I would'nt give for the only thing that I had to be responsible for was my painting. How is anyone supposed to accomplish any reasonably decent work when they are frequently interrupted by what is commonly known as " REALITY "...how bloody rude!!! Loads and loads of soul destroying menial tasks vying for my attention, pushing and shoving and piling up, with no signs of abatement. Cleaning, cooking, washing, ironing, accounting, banking, errand running, grocery shopping etc...etc....." God Give Me Strength ". ( beautiful, beautiful song written by Burt Baccarach and recorded a while back by Elvis Costello ).

Blah..blah..blah

We rose before the birds this morning as usual. Lots to do. Dom came over around 6.30 to resume his painting of our Patio, pergola etc. He is doing a brilliant job. I redid my business card yet again. I think I have remodelled it at least 4 times...adding website...removing website (too expensive)...adding blog...blah...blah...blah. I fiddled with some images of my work and printed them out with my new printer...Epson R1800...bloody beautiful...I tried again to fill out the entry form for A in A exhibition...decisions, decisions.. What paintings to submit. What price do I settle for....blah...blah...blah. ...I extricated myself from my " beaut pute " , abluted myself and went first to Harvey Norman to check out their printer paper stocks. They have some of my favourites...the Ilford Gallerie range...Epson and Canon, otherwise I go into the City to Plaza Cameras. They have an even bigger range and there is also the added bonus of the guys not looking at you like you're some kind of weirdo like in Harvey Norman....not all of them...there are some really helpful guys there too...now that I think of it, how come there are'nt any women working in these departments ?...mmmm.. Does'nt really matter does it ? Its more about attitude. Anyway I bought some paper and an ink cartridge...I buy 1 or 2 at a time because there are 7 colours and a gloss cartridge to replace "pricey" . Then I braved the hordes up at Karrinyup shops and was resigned to doing the obligatory grocery shopping....hmph.....I have come home and done a few loads of washing. I am writing this blog and then I am going to take up the hem on the new pair of jeans I bought yesterday, fix a couple of hems on others, do some painting, more washing and so on and so forth...blah ...blah...blah

Proof

Yesterday evening Lisa and I ventured into Northbridge. We stopped in at The Brass Monkey for a drink or two then we strolled on down to Cinema Paradiso and watched "Proof". Good film. Gwyneth Paltrow and Jake Gyllenhaal were both great. He was in "Donnie Darko". One of my favourite films. He's pretty special....yep!! After the movie we dined at a Vietnamese restaurant.....yum...yum...and talked until quite late. It was a really nice evening. Today Pete, Brian, Ken and Gary returned to have a bash at painting again....great guys. I'm a bit tired though. I'm still getting a bit woozy in the head after being sick on Thursday. I had better get my act together though because I have to sort out what paintings I am going to submit for the Artists in Arms exhibition etc etc.Always so much to do.....
