Its scary out there.

The last couple of days out on the roads have been very dicey....I have seen two accidents and people are doing lots of crazy things.....I know that might sound a bit naive but you know when you have those times when you're driving somewhere and lots of near misses occur.....These are the days when I want to get where I'm going and get home quick!

Magazine Addiction Update

My magazine addiction has grown a little or maybe mutated is a better word to use. I still buy my favourite mags " Computer Arts " and " Computer Arts Projects ". I also have been acquiring " Advanced Photoshop ",Better Photoshop Techniques " with the occasional " Photoshop Creative ", " Web Design "," Digital Photographer "and " Web Designer " thrown in. I have bought a couple of " 3D World " magazines just in case I go in that direction or need to use 3D in conjunction with a Photoshop project. Then yesterday I found a magazine published by the same people that produce " Computer Arts ". I have seen this advertised and always liked the look but I have never seen it in any of the newsagents that I stalk...." Imagine FX ". It is directed at fantasy artists, but, has a lot of info about painting digitally using programs such as Photoshop and Painter etc. Yet another to add to the list.

Dinner & Dancing.

On Friday night Brian & I drove down to Freo to have dinner with the lovelies: Annie, Sheila and Helen. We ate at a fantastic Chinese restaurant called The Joy Kitchen and we consumed some of the best Chinese food that I have ever had the fortune of sampling. Afterwards we went dancing. We had great fun. Cant wait to do it again.

Washing Machine Fool.

Over the last few weeks I have been collecting ringpulls from drink cans to make a belt that I saw on a jewellery making show. On Thursday my washing machine w ould'nt work properly and on the front of my machine there is a little thingy that you can undo and see if there is anything that has come through the wash and gotten stuck and therefore rendered your machine unusable. So I open this ...not easily you mind....flood my laundry floor with water and then discover...guess what?... a ringpull floating amongst said water. Ok. On the weekend before I think I can remember putting a ringpull in my jeans pocket....Oh-Oh...So I put the washing machine thingy back in and try again to do a load of laundry. It still wont work...and again I flood my laundry floor looking in the thingy. I cant find the culprit so I ring my appliance guy, Shane from Ace High, who has fixed things for us for about 15 years or so. It has been a while since I last used him so I wonder if he is still doing the same work. I am in luck. He is. He makes a time to come out the next day and thats fine. He arrives and goes straight for the thingy, sticks a screwdriver in there and wiggles it about and out comes two more ringpulls......How embarrasing....So I tell him the story and he laughs and says that maybe I should check my pockets in future. I think either that or dont put the things in my pocket in the first place....What do you reckon?

Miami Ink.

During the past couple of weeks I have been watching a show on paytv called Miami Ink. It is a show about 5 guys who run a tattoo shop in South Beach Miami. It's a cool show. I don't have a tat. I think I'm too old...I gain and lose weight too much. I don't think I'm a great candidate, but, I do like the art work and the guys on this show are great.

Melbourne's Picasso.

Brian and I went over to Melbourne for a couple of days. It was great...did a bit of shopping...went to the footy (Collingwood V Hawthorn)...more shopping...ate in great restaurants...bought art supplies...etc, etc. Maxine and Dom were there too...we had a great time....We LOVE Melbourne...We went to the Picasso exhibition at the Victorian National Gallery. That was excellent...There were way more pieces on view than I thought. Lots of photo's and drawings but quite a few paintings as well. In one section they had photos of the different stages of the making of " Guernica "....this was my favourite part of the whole show...but I was also glad to see his paintings in the flesh...so to speak...It was $20 well spent.
