Not so happy AFI.

George Miller was being interviewed on the ABC's 7.30 Report tonight. He was talking about his new movie "Happy Feet" . It has been a great sucess but he was also bemoaning the fact that all of our great Aussie talent has to go overseas to work and that the Australian Film Industry is floundering! How depressing.

Here we go Again.

Yesterday morning I worked out what I am going to do for my next painting. I have used a couple of photo's that I took at a friends place in Margaret River. AinA is going to have a big show next year so I have to have some new works....I hope I can get a few done in time. In the afternoon I went to Fran and Oliver's to help clean up for the exhibition. With all the helpers it did'nt take long at all. I'm sure Olivers studio has never been so empty!

OptiPaint

I was reading an article in ImagineFX today about a new highspeed USB device that plugs into your PC and lets you use your own real brushes and other art materials in Photoshop or other programs that accept Photoshop compatible plug-ins. Its called Optipaint. Sounds like fun....its a bit pricey though.

Serendipity and the art of watching late night T.V. a.k.a. How to see naked people without really trying.

This year there have been a couple of notorious T.V. incidents that I have witnessed just by chance. Brian always goes to sleep with the T.V. on and I usually fiddle around on my computer for a while before going to bed. One night I entered the room to see Big Brother's naked Jamie and his protruberances and ensuing goings on with Katie. The media meltdown the next day was'nt a total surprise!!! The second Big Brother incident ," the turkey slapping " one, I happened to see when watching Lateline on the ABC whilst waiting for OZ to start on SBS. Which brings me around to OZ. When the show premiered on T.V., many years back, I watched it but thought it was a bit too violent and political ,and so, didnt watch it again....besides it was aired at a rather late hour.....anyway...a couple of years on, when I am staying up much later and The Sopranos is one of my favourite shows so I cant use violence as an excuse not to watch something, a friend suggested that I should reconsider watching OZ because she thought it was really good. Well it just so happened that the one night I decided to watch OZ was the one with the episode where Christopher Meloni's character gets thrown into solitary stark naked. Ive watched OZ ever since...with or without Mr Meloni who I also have watched and enjoyed in Law and Order SVU.... and no I have'nt been watching it to see naked men but I do have to say Christopher Meloni takes the cake when it comes to beautiful male bods!

Lift and Support.

Today I went to an Artists in Arms meeting at Fran and Oliver's. We are about to have another exhibition and we all went to pick up invitations and to drop off entry forms and such. I took my "never ending painting" to show Annie even though its still not finished. ( this week it will definitely be done) Everyone was very supportive and positive and it meant a lot to me to get that feedback . Sometimes its tough to keep positive so I really appreciate their support. Thanks you guys!!!

Lookin' at people lookin'.

One of my favourite things to do is people watching. The other day I was having a coffee in a shopping centre cafe and I saw this woman...just an ordinary looking woman, but the thing that made me notice her amongst all the others was the way she was looking around herself. She darted her head around just like a chicken does when it is pecking at something. It reminded me of someone close to me who, when he is sitting in a restaurant or cafe , will look around and follow people with his eyes without moving his head. Just like a chameleon. I always say "your eyes are rolling around your head again"...and he always just rolls his eyes and flicks his tongue out at me. We're all just animals...hee...hee.
