Ways of the World.

Yesterday I went to the movies to see "Babel". It is a very powerful story about people, consequences, prejudices and how we interact in this world of ours. It was really good, but, I found it quite harrowing and when the movie was over I left the theatre feeling battered and bruised and in need of comfort. I went over to Miss Mauds and had a hazelnut Latte and a chocolate eclair....although really scrummy it did'nt quite cut the mustard......sometimes you just want a loved one to take you in their arms, stroke your hair and say everything will be alright......talk ablout cliche. But here in reality, this does'nt happen and the world keeps on spinning....for now.....and people keep on hating each other.....great innit!

Blood Diamond.

Yvonne and I have just been to the movies. We saw "Blood Diamond" starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connelly. It is a powerful and moving story and Djimon Hounsou is a compelling prescence on the screen .I did not know anything about conflict diamonds before and did'nt realise that when you buy diamonds you can ask for them certificated conflict free. "Blood Diamond" also shows the plight of the children stolen from their villages who are then brainwashed and made into baby soldiers . A tale to make you think about... and appreciate... freedom.

Post Holiday Fog.

Before Christmas I rationalised not doing certain things by saying to myself " after Christmas I will do this, this and this. After all the hoo haa has died down and things are back to normal". Well, this morning its back to normality time and it's like Wha? Whe? Uh?....I went to the shops and wondered around in a daze. I bought a few provisions...not much though....I just could'nt think straight.....Brian will starve if I dont get it together. Maybe dementia is rearing its ugly head....Eeeeek...or is my brain leaking......help....
