Stephen Fry and Alan Davies flew over from Britain to bring us a lovely evening of warmth, laughter and knowledge. As a fan of the television show, QI, it was everything I had hoped it would be, and more. Mr Fry was gorgeously warm and funny and his usual brilliant self. Joining Mr Fry and Davies on the panel were Myf Warhurst, Peter Rowsthorn and Jonathon Coleman. It was a great evening. It was almost like you were sitting in a large lounge room. I enjoyed it immensly.

Its been a long time between posts and I have no excuse really, but, last night at the ME Bank Stadium, the familiar and well loved sounds of Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam blasted me out of my blog funk. I found myself awake at 3 in the morning unable to go back to sleep until I wrote this down. We went to see Pearl Jam and friends.....the friends consisted of Liam Finn, Relentless7 and Ben Harper, who were all fantastic.....but it was the Pearler's that I had come to see and they didnt disappoint. It was a great night. One of those gigs where everyone's heart seems to beat as one. Ben Harper joined the guys on stage for a song and Liam Finn and Eddie gave a rendition of "Throw your Arms Around Me". This was a highlight for me as it is one of my favourite songs. Other highlights were when the crowd, in full strong voice belted out "Better Man" and " Alive" along with Eddie. The guys left the stage with Eddie saying "See you next time....tomorrow? The drinks are on me" Dont ya just love em? Methinks they should all move to Perth....lol

Saturday night someone broke into our house and took two of my handbags. One of which was my Juicy Couture bag that I got in San Fransisco along with my wallet which had all my cards inside etc...not to mention the money. My N95 mobile phone with heaps of phone no's and pictures etc etc and there's stuff in those bags that I cant even remember....I carry lots of stuff around.......it makes you feel like crap........not happy Jan!!!!!!!

Geez it is not a good day to be out on the road today. I was doing a bit of running around this morning and twice, different people pulled in front of me and nearly hit me. Just as well I saw them in time.....and thats saying something!! as I was listening to Muse and was very involved in the songs...if you know what I mean. Also at a set of lights a plain policecar all of a sudden decided to do a u turn right in front of me....they put on their siren really loud but I thought it was part of the song.....heehee.....I was'nt in their way though.....crikey!

This morning I awoke with a surprise because I had a dream with John Simm in it. It was a gentle fun kind of dream. The kind that linger and make you feel good for a time . I don't usually dream about actors and stuff....well not very often anyway but it got me thinking about other dreams I've had with well known people in them. Years ago....about the time of "Legends of the Fall" I had a dream about Brad Pitt. I've dreamt about Nicholas Cage, David Bowie....I had a funny one with Al Pacino....he was my good buddy and we were hanging around in the town I grew up in....I never could work that one out. I had a doozy after Robbie William's concert...it was really nice and friendly and the good feelings lasted a couple of days....that is until he said derrogatory things about Perth people in the press and that put an end to that. I've probably had others but they could'nt have been too memorable could they? I wonder if you can set yourself up to dream about a particular person?????...HMMMMMM?

I did'nt get much painting done though 'cos its toooooooo hot!!!!!!! and I took this after I had given up trying to paint in a sauna and gotten dressed to go to the shops.......I usually wear daggier clothes when I'm painting and usually no makeup. For a while now my dvd drive just was'nt recognising cd's. I managed without it quite well ...loading files onto my laptop and transfering them wirelessly. That was until I bought myself a new pen tablet .....a Wacom Bamboo Fun and had to install the software from the CD supplied. There is nothing wrong with the tablet I already have, but , I was out christmas shopping and I saw this lovely smooth black pad and could'nt resist...hopeless! Yesterday Marc replaced my old dvd drive with a brand spanking new one and now I'm ready to go......mmmmm everythings black now........nice.

Megan and I went to see Sweeney Todd at the cinema today. It was great. We always like to see Tim Burton movies and it was lovely to see Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall...some of my favourites. It's funny the things that run through your mind when you are watching a film. During the scenes where Todd reunites with his razors I kept thinking of Edward Scissorhands and there was a second where I could've sworn Cap'n Jack Sparrow extended his arm and during Mrs Lovetts dream for a life with Todd I kept thinking of Beetlejuice. I could'nt stop looking at Judge Turpins filthy nails and the sound effects when the bodies hit the cellar floor made both Megan and I queezy. Very graphic. Very atmospheric. Very Tim Burton.....deliciously dark...yum.

I have'nt posted for a while...I have been running all over the place...I have'nt been 100% well and have just been exhausted. Daniel and I went to see Muse when they were here and they were fantastic. I have got everyone Foo Fighter tickets for Xmas and I am looking forward to seeing them in the New Year. I have been participating in Annie's crochet workshops and I am learning a lot as well as having a nice time with the group. I'll take a photo of the earphone holder I made and post it next time....I call it "The Scrotum"....heh heh.

Brian and I arrived back on Australian soil last Thursday. We went to California. We stayed with our friends...Anni, Ron & Ashley. We had a great time. Since I went to one of Annie's crochet workshops I have been practising my crochet. That is ....in between babysitting, being unwell...a lot...doing the tax , painting, dancing etc etc. I am starting to get better. Well, at least I feel more comfortable with the yarn and hook. Recently I got a new phone. An N95. I like it a lot but all the little carry thing-a-me's I had for my last phone dont fit my new one so I decided I would crochet a few. Well, I have done a few and a few extra for Nicole's fundraising for the boys to go over east for their quadbike racing.

I've only just watched last Saturday's episode of Doctor Who ..... Whooo hooo I can't believe they have brought in John Simm to play the "Master".... hee hee .... just perfect ... cheeky ... Last night I went to bed quite late and Brian had the TV on in the bedroom. I was really tired and ready to have a goooood sleep. I got into bed and accidently found myself watching a program on the ABC called "Haunting Douglas". I woke up right quick! The program was about the acclaimed dancer and choreographer Douglas Wright. Wow that guy can move. I never have seen anything like it.....I could'nt take my eyes off the screen. What a lovely late night surprise.

I took a few hours off today and went to the cinema. I saw "Amazing Grace". It starred Ioan Gruffudd as William Wilberforce who tirelessly campaigned for decades to abolish slavery throughout the British Empire. It also tells of his friend John Newton (Albert Finney), a former slave trader, who repented and turned to the church and who also wrote the beautiful song...Amazing Grace. I really enjoyed this moving film and there were a few moments where I thought I would really like to paint a portrait of Mr Gruffudd ....mmmmm....but...you just dont do that .....do ya?.....or do you?

I am going to be exhibiting works in two group shows next month. The first is at the Old Bakery Gallery along with Bronwen Newbury, Njalikwa Chongwe, Gerry Reilly, Heather Taylor and Trish Ware. It runs from August 5th until September 30th. The second is with AinA and is located at the Old Berlin in Northbridge and opens on the 10th of August .

Lorraine and I have just come back from a few days in Melbourne. We had a great time. We wandered around the place, we went to a couple of shows..."Miss Saigon" and "Respect"...they where fabulous...we ate at lovely restaurants and of course we shopped in those gorgeous shops they have over there.....bliss...just pure bliss....a good escape for a few days for both of us ...and now its back to work...yes sir!

I have'nt posted for a week because I am still a bit discombobulated from the wedding and having Lachie here all week. Megan and Matt's wedding was fabulous. Everyone had a great time. Everyone is still raving about the fabulous food and friendly service provided by John and Karen from JKL Exclusive Caterers. I cant praise them enough...the food was gorgeous and they are a lovely couple. They really helped make Megan and Matt's day extra special...and ours too. The kids are on their honeymoon and we have Lachie. He is gorgeous but I am finding that I'm not getting as much done as I should and I'm a bit tired.....geee...am I getting past it.....probably.....They are picking him up on Sunday...hope to have some photo's next week and I also hope to get back to the normal state of general chaos that I am used to....fingers crossed!

Boy am I sore...Last night we went poledancing for Megan's hen's night...it was great fun but a bit rigorous and today I am paying for it. This morning we went to the zoo 'cos it was free for Mums because it was Mother's day. It was lovely but all that walking after the previous nights escapades ...mmmmm....not so good. Hey, we learned a few tricks . Like how to swing around a pole . That was at poledancing ....not the zoo...and some other assorted stuff....I would like to do it again but when I am in better shape.....that goes for the zoo as well as poledancing....heh heh.

I had a bit of a bad day yesterday. Nothing was going right. We all have days that feel like that occasionally...ok...yep. Well...I was wandering about all day doing heaps of things and all day long I was reaching for my glasses and getting more and more annoyed and thinking to myself..."my eyesight is getting worse and worse"....I was starting to feel older and older and was waiting for the onset of blindness at any minute until, I was preparing for bed, (early last night...10 o clock), and went to remove my one contact lens and I realised that I had'nt put it in in the first place and it was sitting in its opened container waiting to be used. Oh oh...the stress of being organised for this wedding is starting to rear its ugly head. I hope today goes a bit smoother.

I'm sorry I have'nt been posting much . I have been stretched into too many directions lately and I just cant seem to get my head around much at the moment. Today I installed a new wireless mouse and keyboard onto my PC...nice...not so many cables...but I still have a bit of mess on my desk to clean up...there's photo's that I have to print out for one person and then there is the old photo's that I have to restore for another...there's the stuff I have to do for my daughter's wedding...and the BAS statements and the accounts to do...never mind PAINTING!!!....geez...what's that?....and what's a BLOG???....there's the babysitting and then of course there is just the general stuff that you have to do...like washing, cooking, tidying, living etc etc etc.....

I went to have lunch today in a cafe and at the next table a woman ordered a sandwich...a normal sandwich...not a roll, baguette, foccacia, pannini....but a sandwich with two slices of bread and a meagre filling. Brian, Daniel and I went to see "Little Brittain Live" last night. It was great fun. Matt Lucas and David Walliams managed to conjure up all of their most popular characters including my favourite...Anne...eh eh ehhhhh. They were brilliant !

Brian and I have just returned home after flying over to Melbourne for a few days to celebrate our wedding anniversary. A lovely romantic idea. We both really like Melbourne. There is always something happening. Its very cosmopolitan, the variety of food available is fantastic and the shopping is excellent.

On the night we arrived we went out to dinner with Moni and great fun was had by all. Later that evening....3.15am...I think it was...I awoke feeling severely dodgy and promptly deposited all of the food I had ever eaten...EVER...into the pristine whiteness of the ensuite toilet. This continued every hour on the hour until an angel of a doctor delivered me from this vileness with an injection of something to settle my eruptions and supplies of ongoing medication.

For the next two days I slept. Brian did too. In between popping out for dinner and such. I could'nt even think of food in any other regard other than 'the sustaining life kind of way' and I found myself hankering for and surviving mainly on 'Boost' juices.

The day of the 12th was our anniversary and we managed to go out to a few places close to the hotel. Although I frequently broke out in profuse sweating I told myself that this was one way the toxins could release themselves without putting any further stress on orifices already overtaxed. It was quite a nice day and Brian was chuffed because we went to the Collingwood football club and he spent up big on 'stuff' and I was chuffed because he bought me a beautiful necklace...and no... it was'nt from the footy shop.

The following morning was spent wandering about aimlessly...slowly....and then we flew home that afternoon. Our romantic anniversary was a bit of a dud...but we did get a lot of rest...and we did spend a lot of time together. At least Brian was'nt working. You've gotta look at the good stuff...dontcha!

Yesterday I was shopping up at Karrinyup. I was in Woolies passing by the fruit section......I usually buy my fruit from the lovely fruit and veg shop which has locally grown produce......and saw a big punnett of strawberries. I stopped to look and was amazed to see that underneath was a sign that read...mixed local and overseas product. You've got to be kidding. Why would anyone want to buy these......we want local produce....for local people....from the local shop!

I have been teaching myself to type lately using a Firefox extension called Addictive Typing Lessons. I am finding it really helpful. yep o can type realluy fast now.
